Your story may be serious or lighthearted or as silly as you like just so long as it is 100 words or less and written for the following  prompt:

You've received a surprise package in the mail and experienced quite a reaction to the contents. What was in the package? How did you react to the contents and why did you react that way? In honor of the season, try to include a fall color like crimson, gold or burnt orange in your story.

Sören slid his finger along the taped edge of the brown-paper wrapping. He could tell Becky had sent it because she’d drawn a row of flowers along the bottom edge of the small, square box.

“Sören, hurry up, you’re as slow as a Sunday preacher!” his sister complained.

With mischief in his eyes, although he wanted to rip open the box as well, he laid the package down, stating, “I told Mor I’d dig up all the carrots, maybe I’d better finish.”

Svea’s eyes bugged out, “Sören Nils Markusson! I could stuff red ants down your shirt!”

“Oh, yeah? Try!”

Very good! Great start to a longer story. You've made me curious about what is in that package which must be from Soren's sweetheart.

Yes, it's Soren's sweetheart. It is a part of my children's novel of which I have probably 25,000 words written.

I don't think so, Jeanne. They live in Central Minnesota and I don't know where they'd get the red ants.

But your question also revealed something to me about my characters, which is that although the siblings tease one another, they never, ever actually hurt each other. I didn't know that about them until you asked and I contemplated the answer.

I never had the Crayola box with more than 8 crayons in it. I assume burnt orange is kinda like orange, but.... sorta burnt??

I love fall colors since in my area we mostly have evergreens and Eucalyptus trees. But in a single hour drive I can be in the Southern Highlands experiencing ALL the colors of Autumn!!

This is a very very very good prompt. However, my first idea included something that is natural and not dirty, but could be considered rather disgusting unless you had eaten armadillo on the half shell and being satiated simply do not care.
