Taylor Swift has proven once again that good girls finish first, promoting her debut fragrance Wonderstruck with a fairytale-inspired, but role-model worthy commercial. Unlike many of her country and pop music contemporaries (ahem, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, even Britney Spears and the list could go on), Swift hasn't resorted to exposed Twitter pics, overtly suggestive ensembles, questionable lyrics and other less-than-admirable drama, which drum up all the wrong types of PR buzz. She boasts a formidable fan base on her singing and songwriting talent alone that famously gives former boyfriends a smart kick in the pants.
The 21-year-old star's latest half-minute Wonderstruck teaser is a perfect example of her classy, sophisticated style. Wearing a frothy and ruffled, long strapless gown, Swift moonlights as a stunning princess with her long tousled hair and the brilliant pop of her ruby-red lip. No bare-all bra and panty looks or overly provocative posing here.
But, surprise, surprise... the commercial still manages to be the epitome of romance, translating to the viewer a fantasy world that would make anyone want a spritz of Wonderstruck, which Taylor Swift has said has "warm, spicy and caramel notes," according to PopCrush. And what better song than Taylor Swift's "Enchanted" to play in the background of the commercial, as she says in a voiceover, "It's a spark. A connection. The rush of something new. It can happen in a moment, an instant. It can happen when you look into someone's eyes. And once you've been struck, you'll never be the same again." Pretty great "lyrics" there!
The advertisement will apparently be premiering Wednesday on Fox during the so far wildly popular The X Factor show with Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul. Sounds like a promising time for Taylor Swift to catch the right audience of young fans and music lovers.
