Why is it that when it comes to religion, people (we) talk at each other rather than to each other? Perhaps it is because institutions of male-dominated culture (religions) have appropriated faith to serve male-exploitive purposes. Fixated faith not only dominates the conversation but culture as well.
The natural dynamic of faith and culture is to evolve. The fixation of faith against evolution has a damaging impact on culture. The fixation of culture is accomplished by excluding new insights of reason from entering faith consciousness. In this way, faith and reason are alienated from each other and culture is impoverished. The remedy is for faith and reason to remain respectful and in constant dialog with each other.
The overall effect of the cultured fixation of faith is to stymie reason and frustrate the evolution of faith and culture; faith and reason deepen their conflict and infect consciousness with schizophrenia. The cause of this seemingly unresolvable situation is that faith and reason have been talking at each other so long they don’t know how to talk to each other.
Can’t we read the every-where-present signs of diseased culture and open the conversation so the healing of physical/ mental disorder can begin?
