Last spring, Emily Deschanel announced her pregnancy, and now she has given birth. Since the announcement, many were wondering how it would affect her hit Fox drama, Bones. Well, they simply wrote it into the series and re-worked the schedule for the season.
It's a boy!
Entertainment Weekly has announced that Deschanel and her husband David Hornsby (How to Be a Gentleman) are now parents of a son, Henry Hornsby. Henry is their first child. Will on-screen mirror off-screen? Will Brennan and Booth have a son? Some spoilers this summer said that they'll be having a girl, so it looks like that won't be the case.
Bones has been working around Emily Deschanel's pregnancy. Up until the final moments of the season finale, viewers were wondering if they would just be hiding her pregnancy in the seventh season, but the last words of the episode were Brennan announcing her pregnancy and telling Booth he's the father. The series isn't premiering its seventh season until November 3 instead of the usual September start, and then it will only be airing six episodes. That season premiere is also going to feature a time jump, as by the time the show begins again, Brennan will be in her third trimester. After those six episodes, the show will be taking a break (and The Finder will be airing) before resuming for the final seven of the season. Fox has ordered four more episodes, and it's unknown when those will air. This is all because you can't have Bones without Emily Deschanel as Brennan, and so they worked the schedule—and episode count—around her pregnancy.
Congratulations to Emily Deschanel and David Hornsby!
