Last season of Glee ended with Mercedes and Sam hiding their relationship, but with Chord Overstreet not returning this year, that's over. She is going to have a new boyfriend, but what else is going on for her?
A new Mercedes?
Amber Riley told TVLine, "Mercedes is actually going to be shown in a different light for once. She has a relationship, and you're going to see a softer side of her. She's very lovey-dovey. It's kind of like, 'Oh my God? Is this Mercedes?!' She dresses different. She's girlier now." This means that her relationship with Marcus (LaMarcus Tinker) isn't going to be a secret like her one with Sam was—though that may have been for the best since he's no longer at McKinley. However, she also revealed that they will address the fact that Sam has left. Will everyone know about Mercedes and Sam's secret relationship, or will only a select few have that knowledge?
Though Amber Riley didn't reveal much about how they're going to talk about Sam now that he's gone or other information about Glee season 3, she did say that they're "doing a lot more Broadway songs this season. The first couple episodes are very, very Broadway." So it sounds like this cast is going to get a chance to show off their voices with some Broadway tunes, and perhaps some of them will get a chance to sing like they haven't before. There is also a school musical coming up, and with Rachel and Mercedes both competing for the female lead, could they be singing Broadway songs for their auditions?
