Let’s climb to the sky

At a very slow pace

No need to hurry

And miss out on all

That you have learned

Stop along the way

Listen to the sounds

The voices which has taught you

The things you know today

Look around and hear

The messages loud and clear

Look as far as you can

To see what you have missed

Take time to learn

Just a little more today

For these will be needed

On your journey to the top

If you encounter others

On your way high above

Share as much as possible

Spread the word of love

Lend a kind ear

Listen to the wind

As it carries messages to you

A little more to learn

The leaves are like a page

Filled with knowledge too

Each branch is a road you traveled

Leading you on your way

As you near the top

Check your list to see

If you are leaving behind

The very best of you.

Oh, Sandy, that is great. First, the poem is wonderfully done. But that tree... I would have killed to have something like that to climb when I was a kid.

We had a big ole tree at home that we loved to climb. But one day lightning struck the big side branch and it was never the same.

As a kid enjoyed climbing in trees - not sure why that was but it was - odd then as a parent you forget how to let alone even try to climb a tree any longer - trees have become trees and how proud they stand - its a good thing this piece came along and put the record straight - yes indeed why not - lets all go climb a tree - just be careful up there :))

I have been known to still climb a tree. Getting down is the hard part. I don't land as graceful as I used to.
