Antonio Smith's home was the site of a tragic drowning over the weekend. The Houston Texans defensive end hosted a party at his home on Saturday, September 4, 2011. No one could ever have imagined that a celebration at the NFL star's lavish residence could have such a nightmarish ending.
The lifeless body of one of the football player's guests was found at the bottom of the pool the day following his party. It was a horrifying and sad discovery after an event that lasted well into the wee hours of the morning.
Engram Lamar Crenshaw, the deceased, attended the event along with approximately 100 other invited guests including several other members of the Houston Texans. Witnesses last saw the 37-year-old man around 2:00am early Sunday morning. No one noticed his absence until the home's occupants woke up after 9:00am, and one of them discovered his body at the bottom of the pool.
It is surprising that no one missed Crenshaw until it was too late. It seems possible that he attended the party solo, without a date who would presumably know he was unaccounted for.
Antonio Smith and Engram Lamar Crenshaw were friends. Crenshaw's friends and family are no doubt mourning the loss of this man who died far too young under bizarre circumstances. Police do not currently suspect foul play in the death.
The General Manager for the Houston Texans declined to comment on the incident, but he is reportedly aware of the unfortunate event. Antonio Smith has not released a statement either.
