Marc Anthony has voiced his response to the recent rumors that he and Jada Pinkett-Smith were having an affair and that was the reason for his split with wife of seven years, Jennifer Lopez, and—in short—he finds them "laughable."
The singer and performer addressed rumors of an affair with Pinkett-Smith after weeks of rumors, and his resulting silence continued to spur speculation of his guilt by default.
Anthony, who addressed the issue directly with Nightline, outwardly denied the affair, stating, "No, absolutely not. When something like that happens, it's laughable," he said, adding, "We've been friends for years. Jada, Jennifer, me, Will Smith, for years."
Marc Anthony continued addressing recent rumors, laughing that, "It was a flight attendant, it was the pilot—I heard it was this guy sitting next to me in a rehab in Houston. I've heard it all."
In the midst of such chaos in his personal (and yet very public) life, it seems that Anthony is keeping his sense of humor in tact and letting the inevitable gossip roll right off of his shoulders.
"People are trying to peg it on things because it was so shocking," he commented on the abrupt end to his marriage. "It was like, it must have been something."
It's good that he's able to keep the right attitude in a time that would be hard for anyone, but particularly someone in the spotlight.
As for the rumors, what do you believe about the idea of a Marc Anthony and Jada Pinkett-Smith affair? Do you think he's being truthful and that those who began the rumors just saw an obvious target because of their friendship? Or do you think there may be more to their "friendship" than he's admitting?
