The video is very hard to watch, as it pits David against Goliath in a "Fight Club" that should have never happened.
It all began when Johnson, 35, got word from his 16-year-old son that he and another kid wanted to settle an ongoing dispute man to man, and fist to fist.
The good father agreed and said that he would allow the boys to settle their differences in his backyard while he only oversaw the fight. OMG is in order!
Based on an arrest affidavit, Gary Leroy Johnson "told both the boys that if they wanted to fight, he would monitor the fight and make sure it was a fair fight," says a New York Daily News report.
The fight got underway with the boys, and resulted in Johnson's son losing and walking away. That's when things went terrible -- fast. In the viral video, the winner of the fight can be seen standing up to Johnson, who said, "You want to get knocked ... out by me, boy?"
The smaller teen said, "I would like to see that," and was then floored by the larger man (6' 2" 220 lbs.). Yes, the Florida dad fighting a teen snapped it seemed. Then, it erupted in a barrage of blows, more than a dozen or so, according to the report.
Perhaps it's a case of bad parenting, or a man who is intent on picking on the weakest link to assert his manhood. Or maybe it's a matter in which uncontrolled anger issues, once dormant, only needed a spark to unleash its fury.
Sadly, a kid is now scarred by the fact that a beating caught on tape will haunt him for a long time. And don't forget the kid who was at the heart of the Florida dad fighting the teen.
At some point when it sinks in, he will feel the pain of starting something that amounted to many lives being ruined in some form of fashion. There's no clear winner here.
