With the news of Beyoncé pregnant 2011 confirmed, it appears a fellow female musician is in line to be the godmother of Jay-Z and Beyonce's first child. That's right, "Super Bass" booty queen, Nicki Minaj, is stepping up to the plate to "Watch the Throne" for the star couple's baby.
The Beyoncé pregnancy news was revealed during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, following her on-stage musical performance. After the show, MTV caught up with rappers Nicki Minaj and J.Cole backstage to get their reaction on the big news.
J.Cole is a rapper out of North Carolina and a protegé of Jay-Z's signed to his Roc Nation label. He told MTV's Boombox:
"I feel like the whole world feels like, 'We having a baby,' How wild is that? You can't help but smile, it's incredible. It's crazy. The way they told the world was so gangsta and it's so not even their style, which made it even better. They're so not flashy with their news but I feel like it's cool that they shared that with the world. They knew that it was important news for the world, to us, the fans."
Cole was recently part of rumors swirling over a sex tape involving musician Rihanna, but he and the R&B diva smashed all that gossip. While he probably won't be the godfather, he could be one of the newborn's favorite emcees as the child is growing up, depending on how far J.Cole's stock rises. Meanwhile, female rap star Nicki Minaj added her two cents to the discussion saying, "My baby, Beyoncé! I will be the godmother."
This could be a crazy birth for Beyoncé and Jay-Z's first child. Jay-Z has worked with so many other artists, there could be a long line for who gets to be the godmother and godfather. Will he give the godfather honors to his pal Kanye West, or would that be going too far? Is Nicki Minaj the best choice for godmother, or would someone like Rihanna or Kelly Rowland get the job? It's going to be quite interesting to see which stars get assigned these important roles in the future of "Baby Z"!
