An Atheist billboard is attracting negative feedback in a moderately sized Indiana town. Too bad for those who don't support the message because it was paid for privately. The comments made by opponents of the freedom-inspiring billboard are rather disappointing, considering this is the USA.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation seeks to counteract the stifling publicity of religious billboards and other imagery by spreading the concept of free thought. One person who opposes this billboard said the following:
"It doesn't need to be there. If you don't have something to believe in then you might as well shut the door and stay home," said Kenny Parsons of Terre Haute, Indiana.
Well, Kenny Parsons of Terre Haute, perhaps that is what you should do with your religion. This is America and if you can't handle the freedom of and from religion that is entitled to every American, well that is simply your problem. The same goes for anyone who echoes this man's sentiment.
Atheist billboards like this one have been popping up all over the country, and so far in news stories, Terre Haute has been the only place releasing their negative remarks about it. It makes one wonder what kind of small town this really is. Well, at any rate, kudos goes to the Freedom From Religion Foundation, for sticking through with this. Personally, they should try to put a billboard up in every city, but that would be expensive.
