Genre Shorties Prompt Week 77 One Hundred Words

I have an eeeeasy prompt for you (if you can believe that, and I’m not saying you should) (and by the way I have a couple of suggestions in reserve for future weeks, thanks to those who have sent them along).

Please write 100 words about having to write 100 words.

You may, or may not, consider using some of these suggested words:

ridiculous / impossible / mental / frosting / algebra / slinky

One Hundred Words

 

I find it nearly impossible to write exactly 100 words unless I write more and delete.  I know it sounds ridiculous but that’s the case.  I’m like a slinky going down the stairs and not quite having the oomph to get down that last step, my mental instability shows.    Somehow when I was watching that Bruce Willis marathon this weekend I saw things happening differently.  I was sure there would be some way I could mention the movie, “Armageddon” and the two armadillos they used to plant the bombs to blow up the asteroid.  That would have been frosting on the cake.  But what now?

I reeeeally like that analogy about the slinky at the last step.

Bomb-wielding armadillos would take these shorties in a whooooole new (actually more than one, if you think of debris trajectory) direction!

The asteroid will hit Earth if they don't blast it into 2 pieces and the need the armadillos to plant the bombs deep enough to break it in two. None of you have seen this movie before? Thank you Tracy for stopping by!

Sounds like a plot for a great shortie but an even better movie. I want to see Bruce Willis with armadillo sidekicks. Frosting on cake sounds pretty good right now too.

The movie is called Armageddon. The sidekicks are big mechanical transports that can carry the men to the spot that needs to be drilled and after drilling to inject the bomb. Of course they break down and that last bomb needs to be blown up manually. Thank you, Kay!

Thank you, David.I think Armageddon missed being a blockbuster when it came out the same time as Deep Impact. I thought Armageddon was the better movie. but that's my opinion.

If Toni peels armadillos and they blow up with the asteriod, will little pieces of peeled armadillo rind fall on earth?

I really enjoyed this one.

That's a great idea, Pam. If they stay with the asteroid it stays in 2 pieces and has enough trajectory for each piece to pass the earth 4 miles apart. I don't think they get close enough for pieces to be drawn into earth's atmosphere. Thanks for stopping by, Pam.

Well not watch them WITH the armadillos, cuz I hear they're kinda slobs, but...well...you know what I mean....right?

When we were kids we used to have races to see who could send the slinky the slowest and still get it all the way down the stairs, mine sometimes stopped to early! Thanks for stopping by Tanya!

I just love the show. It isn't as goofy as it seems. There's lots of slapstick, but also some very cutting satire, sort of like Green Acres: Another show I love. I of course identify with my favorite character Arnold.

That's probably the most useful thing about writing shorties; the editing, Get your idea down and then find a more precise way say it. You've done a good job of putting the experience in a nut shell - a small nut.
A BW marathon would be a good time. How many of his movies did they show?

Well, I stayed for Die Hard 2, Armaggedon, and Die Hard 3. I'm not sure if they showed more before I started watching. Thank you for stopping by, Orb!
