As the iPhone 5 release date nears, Apple's smartphone looks like it's adding a new metal chassis while adopting slight changes in its LCD screen.
DigiTimes, citing sources from upstream panel suppliers, had the following to report about the upcoming iPhone:
The sources added that the iPhone 5 will adopt a 3.5- to 3.7-inch panel with a design to allow the bezel of the panel to become thinner and make the screen look larger.
In addition, iPhone 5's back design will be changed to a metal chassis instead of reinforced-glasses.

The news about the underwhelming screen size is not going to please many who wanted something more from the upcoming iPhone release. While not exactly searching for a new mini iPad, many people want a larger iPhone screen. 3.7" is only .2" more than the current iPhone 4. A 4" or even larger screen would make it easier to use.
Yet other people are fine with the size of the upcoming iPhone, as they are more concerned with something that easily fits in their pockets. The 3.7" Nexus One is another phone that is at about the limit for what would be a pocketable phone. This is something to watch as the iPhone 5 release date nears.
