Last night's MTV Video Music Awards may have been a total yawn without the news of Beyoncé's pregnancy. The star's announcement was huge for her and for the VMAs. In fact, it may have saved the entire event.
Of the big announcement, PR expert Glenn Selig said, "It was brilliant-from the idea to the execution. Beyoncé pulled it off beautifully and people just love news like that." There is no doubt that her shocking but happy announcement made the show last night. People were thrilled to see it on the red carpet and then on Twitter, but for those who missed all there, there was no mistaking it in Beyoncé's VMA performance, which showed an ecstatic mother-to-be who was obviously high on life. Jay Z's jumping up and down reaction could not have been more real.
The announcement truly did not appear to be overly scripted or planned, but obviously people in charge of the 2011 Video Music Awards had to know, so everybody did a great job at keeping mum and letting the news come out as an incredible shock just before the show.
Many people have wondered just how the big news stayed hidden for so long. It is amazing that MTV, Jay Z and the Love on Top singer were able to keep the secret and end up revealing it in such an exciting moment for themselves and their fans. Congratulations to the expecting parents! The world has high hopes for this little bundle of joy.
Do you think this Beyoncé pregnant moment rescued an otherwise tame and unmemorable VMAs?
