Is it me or is the coverage of natural disasters overdone? The media gets hold of a story and just beats us up with it. Those in the path of Irene should be kept informed, but the rest of us are tired of hearing about it. The media seems disappointed that more damage was not done. They just seem to love a good disaster and are pounding us harder than Irene. There is one station devoted to coverage of Irene and is showing a flag blowing. Seriously?

Irene is still flooding coastal areas, including New York City, even though they are calling it a tropical storm -- storms do not have to be hurricanes to cause damage and even kill people

I listen to a story and they said how proud folks were that it was not another one like Katrinia,, I apprecaite all knowledge of it, for my son is heading there to help clean up and I have folks I know on the east coast I rather see a flag blowing then soem dumb golf game,,
My estrange husband was mentioning that Florida was missed because the Irene turned course. I told him you know that was gonna happen because Irene visited Florida already before a few years back.

I have seen alot of flooding pictures and wind damage from friends in Irenes path. It doesnt look pretty.

I had it on ALL night long and didn't sleep much since it was hitting right thru NJ....we had a tornado warning around 9:15pm, ending at 9:45pm...that was the longest 1/2 hr of my life, scary stuff....tornado warnings were in effect until 5am so that is why I had the tv on all night long wanted to be informed!! So no I'm not tired of it yet until it's all over!!

we have some flooding here not sure if my husband's relief will come into work or not or even if he will be able to make it home or not. But as with everything else int he world once there is more coverage be it internet, phone, tv, or video the bigger they will make everything out to be.

I know what you mean. I really do. Their coverage took off "Lockup Raw" a few nights in a row now. They could air this on the weather channel, not that channel. I agree that they are just trying to get everyone worked up about it and I hope and pray that it turns out to be almost nothing for the folks that are having to worry about it.

I hated the news all this week-the entire time I was in North Carolina at the beach where the earthquake was actually going to hit, they were talking about how badly NJ and NY were going to get it-so much so that it was hard to find info on evacuations for the beach we were at.

I agree that they seem disappointed that there wasn't more damage done after so many thousands of people...even a million? being evacuated.

Those caught in the storm probably like the coverage, but for the rest of us it does seem to be overkilll.

I'm glad it wasn't worse-- a lot more people would have died.
But I agree, it seems that the media wanted it to be much more.
They do make money off how many are watching their coverage and the advertisments that are disbursed within it, so sadly enough, because humans like to watch destruction, devestation really makes them a lot of money.
There is no integrity whatsoever in the news business anymore, it's all about money.
That's why I would not consider that career anymore.

That's why I don't watch the news. They show one story way too much. Far too unbalanced
