Facebook is updating it's Facebook Photos feature, making upload times shorter and pictures bigger. The Facebook update will occur over the next several days. Expect a few technical hiccups during the update.
The social media giant will now display images at an increased resolution -- 960 pixels for the longest dimension -- versus the current 720 pixels. This will make shared photos appear sharper after the Facebook update.
Facebook users who print out photos posted by family and friends will soon enjoy clearer printed pictures due to the upgrade. For folks that simply view the photos online, a cleaner interface promises a better viewing experience.
The new proposed white background will be less of a contrast than the current floating black box display. But, the Facebook update sample posted at ZDNet shows photo tagging and rotation icons overlaying the image. These seem to distract from scenic images and portraits.
Faster Facebook Photo Uploading
The Facebook Photos update also promises faster uploading times. With speedier services, will more Facebook users share an increased number of photos? Currently, over 250 million photos get posted to Facebook daily.
