I was goofing around here on Gather, looking at the various ways to earn points. One of the thing mentioned was SEO and keywords etc.. Really? Why? I guess I don't understand all of that teckkie stuff. I may or may not ever 'get it'. So one of the things I found was a suggestion of 'trends'.. The top word was Bromance. I just found it a bit humorous, then thought WOW... maybe it really is a big deal.
Heck they did make a movie out of it "I Love You Man" starring Paul Rudd. The premise behind the movie, he didn't have a Best friend to be his Best Man at his wedding. It was a little odd and even a little bit funny. But honestly I think if my husband came home and told me his mouth smelled like cigarette smoke because 'Joe' (can't remember the name) kissed him, I think I might actually be concerned for his mental health.
I mean really? Have our men become so insecure of themselves that they now have to go out and find someone to have a Bromance with? We girls just call them 'friends' or 'girl friends' or better yet 'BFF' (Best Friends Forever).
We manage to find time during the day to chit-chat maybe have the occasional lunch, we fit in shopping or hanging out with our everyday chores. One of us needs to potty we both go. Why? I don't know, it's just the way it's done. Maybe we need to gossip about someone else.
Back to the Bromance. So now we are scheduling 'play dates' for our men? Oh come one!! Let's get real!! If they haven't figured out how to make friends on their own, we now have to hold their hands to make it happen?
Or, have we emasculated (figuratively of course) our men so much that they no longer know how to make friends on their own? Please don't tell me that as women we have had to exert such control over the men that they no longer can have friends. You know the kind. The ones you hate. The ones who do really stupid things and your husband 'just goes along' because he can't seem to say no to the guys. He would much rather face your wrath, than the embarrassment of saying 'no' to his buddies when they suggest 'streaking' through the main floor at a Gun's N Rose's concert.
Ok, so maybe there are times when we women do need to step in and help our men out in the friends department. But remember this, when things start getting hot and heavy in the Bromance department, if you suggested they go and find friends, you might just get what you asked for!
