Do you remember quite a while ago Gather introduced the "new" personal home page to better manage your activity? Well, I'm still on the old "my gather" page, and the link is still there to try the "new" page. I never did it, because at the time, it was said that once you convert, you cannot go back to the old page if you didn't like it. Is that still true?
Gather has been extremely slow for over a year now. Uploading photos is not bad. But I see others commenting, and their reply is like 1 minute apart. Sheesh. When I open one of your photos to view from an email notification, or my-gather page, I can go eat supper waiting for the page to load! Quite ridiculous, and a hinderance to being able to view/comment. So, you just do less ..... a lot less. And become more selective to view something of interest because of the time involved. If you don't put tags on your photos to give a clue as to what it is, only your name will display. I don't look at those. If you assume you take great photos, and people will look at them anyhow, you're mistaken. Then there are tags that say photo, photography, digital, etc. I already know its a photo, and if looking at it on a computer, it must be digital. Now that doesn't affect the speed of a download. It does affect what I will look at.
Has anyone else noticed a difference between the old or new gather? Or identified any other problem that seems to make Gather slow? The rewards for the time involved seem to be quite skimpy anymore. Thanks if you have any input.
