John William McGrath-On the Run For 37 Years...

Meet John William McGrath Inmate number 9608. He was last seen 37 years ago at New Hampshire Hospital in Newport, NH. McGrath had been sentenced to Life in a State Psychiatric Hospital for the brutal shot gun killings of his two younger brothers and his Parents on August 3,1964. A Judge deemed him "Insane and Deranged". He was later diagnosed with Paranoid Shizophrenia.

He is 67 years old now, if still alive. Investigators have searched for him in Morgues, but something always doesn't match. There is no DNA sample to help ID him. There are no close relatives. He could be any where. Hospitalized under a different name for instance. He could also be a Teacher, a Bus Driver, who knows.

He is still being activly searched for by NH authorities. Here's a very old picture of him, take a look and see if he is familiar to you. I wish that they would do a age-progressed photo of him. The article I read in The Boston Globe didn't include a phone number to call, and, The NH State Police are investigating.

Hate to think this guy could still be out there. But given his state of mind I would think he would have commited another crime and been caught. He could also have passed on, under another name. Most people like this, even thought thier minds are sick are often very intelligent. I would imagine he assumed another name after escaping. And back then, this was much easier to do.
