We are all concerned with our dental health. This is why we brush, floss, and go to the dentist regularly for a checkup a couple of times per year. Let me make one more recommendation to you that might assist you to prevent tooth decay, but it may surprise you! You should you chew gum every now and then. Not merely any gum, mind you, but a sugar-free gum.
Once you have a meal, there are tiny parts of food which can be stuck to your teeth. In the event you leave them there, the sugars and starches in those little bits of food will get together with bacteria to coat your teeth with plaque. While new plaque is pretty easy to clean off, it will eventually harden over the course of a couple of days and turn into tartar.Tartar is a lot tougher than plaque, it will only be effectively removed by a dentist. That is why you need to brush your teeth after mealtime. But let's suppose you can't? This is when I recommend that you pull out a stick of gum and commence chewing!
Sugar-free gum often has a sweetner that helps your teeth. It's known as xylitol, and it's demonstrated an ability to help you prevent oral cavaties, plaque, and osteoporosis. And also as an additional benefit, it sweetens your gum without all lthe nasty side effects of regular sugar - like calories! Don't forget to verify the ingredients panel of your favorite sugar-free gums and look for this special ingredient. Now if your gum has sugar in it, you are losing all these benefits, plus you are encouraging the multiplication of bacteria and growth of plaque on the teeth. That is most certainly not what's right to do!
Don't forget that this gum chewing is simply an enhancement to your regular routine of brushing, flossing, and regular dental checkups. It cannot substitute for those things, but it can supplement a proper routine. You might like to check with your dentist for any recommendations he or she perhaps have for brands of gum that should work nicely for your teeth and taste good, too. Ask a chesterfield dentist or a manchester mo dentist.
