Expat British Glam Pop fixture Tony Craig weighs in with these comments about "Dance with The Tyrants Vol. 1" from exile in Calais, France:
"Cor blimey! This takes me back! To the Seventies and Doug Weston’s original Troubadour in L.A., the one where Elton John first played on the West Coast and where I first saw The Tyrants In Therapy in action.
Of course, this was before the TITs got into 80’s electro-disco, but for a group whose main claim to fame was humour, they made some surprisingly good, dance records. If I could still shake a leg without looking ridiculous, I’d be getting down with it right now, even as I listen to them again. As it is, my left foot is tapping but that could be my arthritis playing up again!
However, for anyone who missed the Tyrants the first time around, check out ‘Too Tuff To Cry,’ probably their most played track. AbbeAbbe’s vocals float over the top of a driving beat. Tracks like ‘Love Crazy,' 'Underground Girl of the World' and ‘Sex Bomb’ are full of the production tricks of the time and this cd won’t go amiss on any club retro dance night. Play it and see! (By the way, whatever happened to Elton John?)"
