Taylor Swift added some glam with a sophisticated updo at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards. Her notice-me timing was good, since she won six awards—more than anyone else in the history of the award show. Wearing an elegant, Marilyn Monroe style Rafael Cennamo dress in creamy white, and a jewel-studded Ranjana Khan belt, Taylor went all out for color—on her eyes.
"Since this was Teen Choice, held in August in sunny Los Angeles, Taylor and I wanted to go with a summery, youthful look," the star's makeup artist Lorrie Turk told Us Weekly. "To us, that meant color, especially since she had a cream palette for her dress." The look may have been a bit 60s, but Taylor's eye makeup did pop with a vibrant blue shadow, matching the vivid blue of her eyes.
The look, reports Taylor Swift's stylist, involved some vibrant color choices—CoverGirl makeup in Turquoise Tempest and Radiant Sapphire. Those hue names just sing, as compared to the more everyday colors like copper and champagne and taupe. At least they do to people who like blue.
The eyeshadow created drama, but her updo ponytail kept things cute and flirty. She avoided the high cheerleader-style pony, by securing it at the middle of the back of her head and added a sweet, sophisticated touch with curled, side swept bangs.
Taylor Swift is at the height of her career and she definitely didn't disappoint her fans on Sunday as she hit the blue carpet looking fabulous.
