The police were here three times by 2 p.m. The first time were the officers who promised me last week to make spot checks every Sunday in hopes of catching some of the drug dealers in action and clean up the building. Well, the initial check didn't produce much in the way of results. At least that's what I thought. About an hour after the first check, they came back and ultimately arrested one woman for drugs.
To make it easier to understand what all happened next, I'm going to call the woman who was arrested "Jane" and the other woman (her roommate), "Joan."
After the police left, the roommate, Joan, came down and told me that the cops planted drugs on her roommate. She also told me to put down that the girl arrested wouldn't be coming back and told me to put down that "Joan" was gone. She gave me her own name as the one who was arrested with the hope that the police wouldn't return to her room.
I wrote down on her card that "Joan" left then I called the police station to let the officer on duty know that the woman they left behind was accusing the officers of planting drugs on the roommate. The officer said she'd let her commander know.
I sort of laughed when I told the officer on duty about the planting of drugs because, in this building, there would be no need for anyone to "plant" drugs because so many people around here are either users or dealers.
Now, the interesting part comes when the same officers came back a third time to let me know that the roommate has a felony arrest warrant out on her. When I told them about the conversation I'd had with her, I told them that she told me the name of the one who was arrested was "Joan" and they said that was incorrect. They said they arrested "Jane" and that "Joan" has a felony arrest warrant out on her and asked me to call 911 immediately if she comes back and tell them that officers were out earlier to arrest her and she had disappeared. They also gave me a copy of "Joan's" criminal history with a photo of her to post in the office for my co-workers to keep an eye out for her.
It has finally calmed down around here now so I thought I'd tell you guys about all of this!
