While Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber dating gossip continues, one half of the young couple has recently spoken out about insecurities and backlash from fans. Apparently, singer Selena Gomez knows what it's like to feel awkward and to have crushes on male celebs, just like other girls have on her boyfriend, Justin Bieber.

Both Gomez and Bieber were nominated in the past several weeks for Teen Choice Awards, and Bieber has been nominated for a MTV Video Music Award (VMA). It's clear these two are enjoying success, but what's often forgotten is they are in their early teens and deal with similar issues to other teens. As noted by TVNZ of New Zealand, Selena says that she enjoys the role she's in right now, growing up with kids and fans her age, but admits to insecurities. She says, "We all go through the same things, feeling awkward in your body and stuff." Despite that, she continues to share a romance with her younger beau, Justin Bieber, and they seem to get along quite well.

However, that hasn't stopped some of the biggest Bieber fans from hating Selena for "stealing their man." Despite the backlash, Selena says she knows what it's like because she's had crushes too. She admits, "I just focus on everything that's going on with my fans [instead].

"I thought I was going to marry Jesse McCartney when I was youngerÂ—he was my screensaver. And I've been obsessed with Shia LaBeouf since I was 15."

So far, it seems Selena Gomez is a young singer and actress with her head on straight. Justin Bieber isn't exactly a Hollywood bad boy, so she's got a good guy by her side as she matures.
