Groups With Prompts and Suggestions
Â
    | The Writing Essential Group (WE) offers amazing ways for you to shine! Each day of the week there is a new editor that offers you prompts to write by. These prompts are sometimes serious, while other times they are playful.  The Member Editors are as follows: Â
To learn more about each of these member editors or to see the latest prompts, Click HERE.  | |||||||||
 Â
The Challenge for July is: Joann's Prompt for July is an interesting scenario: On a solitary walk - in mountains, forest or seashore - you come upon a flat boulder with a hollow in the center. In the hollow are two shining white bones and a polished amethyst pebble. Somehow you know that . . . Your job is to fill in the rest of the story. Remember, stories should be up to 1500 words maximum per chapter, and 1-3 chapters total. Poems are up to 35 lines long. Put GCC in the title and tag if you wish to be a judge (and hey, it's not hard) or NGCC if you decline the prestigious judging honour. To learn more, just go to the group homepage by clicking on the subject line in this post.  |  Stay tuned for announcements of live chats with the editors from the Writing Essentials group. Do you have a burning question that you would like to ask these amazing writers?  Do you wonder where they come up with the prompts they announce each week?  Do you have a suggestion for a future prompt?  Do you just wonder who they are and what they enjoy doing?  Well, these chats will be your opportunity to ask these and all other questions you may have for them. |

Please forgive me if there are too many mistakes in it. I do hope you enjoy this edition because I really don't want all that work to be for nothing!
I remember the whole chemo thing and it is not fun for the person going through it or the family.
If you need someone to talk too, I am here. You can cry on my shoulder.
Nobody should have to go through cancer. It is a very unforgiving disease. One would think they would have found a cure by now. We can keep praying and will.
I have been impressed with all the new columnist. They are posting some top quality columns.
I miss seeing you.
my work's sick policy is awful...I have three weeks sitting there that I can't even touch unless I am actually sick...and then I still lose my first day of pay...
it's just not a very good policy...
I just hate companies policies and don't even get me started on insurances!
I wish I lived closer to you Katryn, I would at least take care of the kids.
luckily we have good insurance...and understanding doctors...times we have run into issues with the insurance we haven't been the ones to work it out it has been the doctors or their staff and even the medical supply place...
I was just about to send you an important email. Make sure to check for it. :)
Do you enjoy the new columnists?
I have been out of town. I will check the email later tonight.
It is always good to see you. How is the heat affecting you in your part of the country? It is miserable here.
It is a great way to pull the community together too. We need to support each other and I think it is working.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I do hope you found the post helpful. I just love working with the new columnists. They are producing quality columns.
I appreciate you taking the time to say that.
Do you find the posts helpful?
Hope all is good with you Connie. Am off to do some reading. And again Thanks for all you do! Hugz :)
It was not patience that kept me working on the post. I just have a thing about not letting something beat me. LOL I kept trying till I got it just because I did not want the internet to win. LOL
I am funny like that.
I am so glad you enjoyed the post. Reba is doing a great job on her column. You must be very proud of her.
Even when I make a recipe, I keep making it until I have it perfected. I add ratings to my recipes and notes. Once I have it the way I want it, I write up my version of the recipe. LOL
I do that with just about everything I do.
You are so very welcome. I was out of town all day yesterday and am so far behind on the comments. I will try to get to all the column posts again later tonight to share on twitter and facebook again.
You are doing such a great job and I admire you for sharing so freely. THANK YOU.
You are so very welcome. Do you like the new column sections?
I have more new ones to add to the upcoming weekend edition.
Thank you for stopping by. Did you see my comment to you about the photos on my Blackwater Falls coumn?
I am so sorry that I am just now getting to your comment.
I have been out of town. It has been so hot here and miserable.
It is raining now but he the humidity is still bad. I just now noticed the river is muddy so it must really be raining hard up-stream.
Has gather customer service reply to your question yet?
You are very welcome and thank you for telling me that you thought it was great. I am glad you found it helpful.
The weekend edition has been getting bigger and bigger each week.
I am so aggravated that I am giving up for the night. I wanted to post some photos of our family but alas it is not intended to be. :(
I have new columnists starting next weekend. I am glad you like the tour guides. I thought with the economy the way it is, we can just visit each places through the eyes of someone else. :)
After the time I had with this post, if you find mistakes, you can correct them. LOL I am done with this post!! Too many problems. LOL
I sure hope the MOnday edition goes smoother.
I am still aggervated today and I have not tried to post anything. LOL Woke up this morning with this post on my mind.
That is funny. I do remember that song. Those were the days of good songs. LOL
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Do you remember the song:
"We were out on a date in my daddy's car.
We hadn't driven very far, when there in the road, straight ahead, another car was stalled, the engine was dead.
I swirved to the right and then to the left. ....
I remember the sound that night. Oh where, oh where can my baby be. The Lord took her away from me. She's gone to heaven so I've got to be good. So I can see my baby when I lee-avv-ee this world."
I forget who sung it though. I know the whold song all the way through.
It was also covered by
Ricky Nelson, and then Pearl Jam in the 1990s....
try this - you might change your mind on todays stuff...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCLERYzJsYA
you might have to copy and paste...
Even when it comes to those more well known, like Beyonce, Christina, etc., I often like what they do that's not as well known as the songs that get radio airplay. When Beyonce's song Halo first came out, I loved it - it was very refreshing to have her sing about loving her guy instead of if you like it then you better put a ring on it type music. Check those two out on utube - the Trent Dabbs song and Beyonce's Halo. Even artist like Melissa Etheridge - her song Angels Would Fall - is simply wonderful - esp. with the music video. It's often a matter of being selective with each artist. Rhianna does a wonderful ballad called The Final Goodbye which is again difficult to find.
I think that's why people like artists like Adele so much - she's refreshing - not a cookie cutter figure - ! And if you've never heard her, check out her newest Rolling in the Deep. Sung from her soul.
Please email me when you put a new color up for the group. I will spotlight it. I added my suggestion for the color.
How do you like th new colomn spotlights?
I am so glad that you benefit from the posts and exposure.
Do you want me to add the information to the Tuesday edition or wait until the weekend? I can do it all week and weekend if that would help?
I am glad you like the tour guides. I have more new ones to add in the upcoming weekend edition as well. Have a wonderful weekend!
Now I feel bad for not spotlighting a couple members. I am so glad you enjoy the post. Believe it or not but I do work hard on it. :)
You are too kind. Now I am getting a big head. See what you have gone and done!
I am so glad you find the posts helpful. That is my goal.
They shaved it for my last surgery. I did go have it cut with some shape to it beause they did not do a good job shaving it. LOL I looked like a freak.
How long ago did you have your surgery?
I do the most part in another program but I add the links and photos and such to the main gather editor. So even with the other progam part, it takes a long time.
You changed your icon again. I really liked your last one. This one is good too though.
You touch on so many subjects that one could spend hours just reading and replying.
Thank-You!
I am so glad that you enjoy reading and checking out all the spotlighted posts. I will be adding more column writers this weekend.
They are doing a wonderful job with their columns. Do you enjoy them?
I am so glad you foud it helpful.
It worked out great, as a friend was there, who's planning to help tomorrow.......we tried to get some sort of an idea where to put everything, and how to get everything done, in the shortest amount of time. We're good to go!
I have to get some styrofoam coolers today, must get some laundry done so the kid and I have clean clothes for tomorrow (LOL!), and tonight I'll be making my strawberry yogurt Cool Whip Pie, the angel food cake w/raspberry sherbet in the middle and frosted with Cool Whip, 2 lime Jell-O pear cream cheese salads, and then the orange sherbert frozen dessert......thankfully, they're all very easy to make and won't take long, but need to freeze/refrigerate them over night.
I am so terribly tired and worn out....thought I would collapse last night.......ughhhh! I can barely walk this morning....guess I should take some Advil and maybe take a nice cold shower with my "muscle soother!"
Anyhow, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers for tomorrow, that everything will work out perfectly......oh, and my cousin from Minnesota is driving down for the party....I'm soooo excited and so "pumped!"
I would love to see your bud vases and decoration. They sound amazing. I am going to go to your post now and read about your accident.
You mean your husband still has not got a clue? LOL You are good!!
I will take pictures!!
Nope, hubby still has NO clue? Am I good or what? On that note, I'm shutting the computer down, turning off the lights and heading to bed!!!!!
Think about me later today....LOL!
I spotlighed a couple of your posts in the Monday edition of Today on Gather. I looked to see if you had done a post up with photos of the party.
I imagine you are exhausted.
Can't wait to see how it went.
I was feeling bad because I did not spotlight any individuals in this edition.
I am just getting so many columnist for the weekend edition that it is getting really long. I have new columnist to add to the upcoming edition as well.
How are you doing this weekend? Is the heat unbearable in your part of the country?
The deer eat our garden. We got a permit to kill the deer but I would rather have the fresh veggies.
What are you planting for your fall garden?
It is pouring down the rain here now.
That sure is good to hear Tracy. Sometimes I wonder. :)
Sometimes, with Gather, I 'mass click' Gather pages to load in tabs, go make coffee, water the plants, watch the birds and then when I return, most the pages are loaded.
My the lastest thing with Gather that makes my teeth want to turn around in my head and eat my brain is the audio on ads shouting at me. I mean, really, I'm sure feminine products are nice and all, but I don't want to hear about them as I'm drinking my morning coffee.
I keep the speakers off on my computer while I surf the site. I turn them on for videos but that is it.
So you don't want to hear about such things at breakfast time, huh? LOL
Don't blame you. Your comment was very descriptive. :)
I keep swagbucks videos running in the background all the time I am online too. I just click on a new one every time I think of it. Gets me quite a few points that way.
My birthday is on Monday. That's why I have a new profile icon
You are one busy gal.
Did you get all the girls cleaned up? LOL
Just got home about 2 hrs ago too.
I am glad you enjoyed the post and the spotlights. People are just loving the new columns.
I am always glad to see your icon on my posts. You are doing an amazing job with your column. I have been out of town so I did not get to promote the columns as much this weekend. I will go over to yours now and see what I can do to help you.
Awesome! Thank you!
