As we talked with our pastor this afternoon I decided on a title for the book "Adventures in Chemo".
So, Sean was smart and went to the doctor on Monday for the 'script for his one med since it took a week to fill last time. He was told they were administering a different type of this med through his IV and wouldn't have to take the pills at home.
So...our week went really well with his dad and step-mom visiting. A lot got done around the house. Then yesterday we had the great chemo SNAFU.
This morning things were still not going very well. We found out that they switched back to him taking the original pills and they expected us to get it filled in one day, because the hospital pharmacy could do it. Well we called the store and found out it couldn't be filled till Tuesday so we went to the hospital pharmacy. Instead of a $20 copay it was a $200 copay. Well there was no way we could cover that.
In steps the hospital again. They contacted the American Cancer Society. So, the $300 grant for transportation was used for the meds. We now have $100 for transportation since $200 went to get Sean the meds he needs for tomorrow and Sunday.
Luckily the doctor gave me the 'script for the next round of chemo. :)
I am hoping by the time August 11th comes around, Sean's third and final chemotherapy, it finally goes smoothly. As one of the nurses said 3rd times the charm. I really hope so.
I am home to grab a bite for dinner and then head back. Sean should be released around 9pm or 10pm since they were able to start things early this morning.
*update:
Sean is spending tonight in the hospital because he spiked a fever - 102.3 and his blood pressure went really low. They are giving him Tylenol and antibiotics and running some blood samples to make sure it is nothing serious. Hopefully all will be fine and his fever breaks by morning and I will get to take him home tomorrow

Katryn, hang in there...this is hard on both of you, but so worth it to be cancer-free.

Mar~
I think that "Adventures in Chemo" is a good title for the book.
Hugs and Prayers..
I know this is not only hard on your husband but your entire family. I know you are helping others by sharing though. Stay strong and it is ok to cry too. :)
