This fall, Fox's primetime is going to have Deschanel sisters on two nights of the week, one in a drama that is going into its seventh season, and the other in a comedy making its series debut. But do they feel any sort of competition?
Deschanels at 9PM two times each week
Emily Deschanel's Bones will continue airing in the 9PM time slot Thursdays once it returns for its seventh season November 3, at which time six new episodes will begin to air. Then the drama will go on hiatus (and its spin-off, The Finder, which just added two series regulars, airs in its place) for Emily Deschanel's maternity leave. Meanwhile, if you're a fan of the other Deschanel sister, Zooey, her new comedy, The New Girl will air Tuesdays at 9PM starting September 20. They don't have to worry about competing for viewers since their shows are on the same network, and Zooey has said, "Things are only weird if you make them weird," when asked about any competition between the sisters.
Zooey has appeared on Bones as Emily's Brennan's distant cousin (and, of course, they mentioned during the episode that the two look like they could be sisters). Bones is already an established series with a strong fan base, while The New Girl is just starting out, but it looks like it certainly has potential to last.
Will you be watching both Zooey Deschanel and Emily Deschanel on Fox this fall?
