America must avoid a downgrade of it's credit rating. We must pay our bills. What the Republicans want to do is turn us into deadbeats, not paying our bills.

That is unacceptable.

Lori, the majority of Americans have grown tired of the do nothing Republicans. Many who voted them into office in the 2010 midterm elections now have buyers remorse as they see Grandma's Medicare and Social Security in jeopardy of being cut.

Cantor and the Republicans want seniors, students, teachers, policemen, firefighters and just about everyone to join in the shared sacrifice.

The only ones who get a pass are America's richest of people and wealthiest of corporations.

I believe the Republicans will loose the House in 2012. They can't be trusted.

Well said. According to the tea party, the middle class must pay for continuing tax breaks for the richest 1% and the most profitable corporations.

Even Ronald Reagan would say the tea party is irresponsible.

The current crop of GOP are nothing like Reagan or Eisenhower.

And David I do believe you are right Reagan would be firmly against the TP.

The problem is that they have gone on and on about union and how evil and bad they are and both the TP and their supporters are so myopic they dont stop and realize that unions are made of THOUSANDS OF VOTERS.

Here is a perfect example.

My uncle did 40 years in the military between the air force and the reserves. When he got out he took the civil service test and got a decent government job.

He has been a staunch Repub all of his life.

His son also in the military is now a fireman.

Both union both Repub.

Neither one of them will vote in the next election because of the actions of the GOP of late.

I dont think that the Dems will get that much of a share of the Repub vote but I think the Repub will get a big share of the Repub vote.

I agree with the three of you. Thanks, Lori, for giving me hope that a percentage (even if small) of disaffected Repubs might tend to sit this one out.

I enjoyed that cartoon. Here in central Virginia, we are very familiar with Eric Cantor's personality, his snide arrogance and his willingness to curry tea party favor and lick the boots of big business.
His no taxation pledges mean nothing to me- a promise made to fools does not need to become cement overshoes to put America at the bottom of the river.
