Good morning everybody! Hope this finds you all well and staying fairly cool in this outrageously hot, hot weather! I was up at 6:30 this morning, and it was already 83 degrees....whewee! Another scorcher today, I'm afraid!!! Last night it was so miserable, I slept on the loveseat in the living room, right in front of the air conditioner (set at 66 degrees!).
Anyhow, things are getting down to the wire.....only FIVE days left till the big, big surprise retirement party for hubby, and he still has no idea......it's incredible how we've managed to keep it all a secret from him......LOL!!!!! I am getting super nervous and excited, all at the same time! I just want everything to be perfect, as I've worked so very, very hard, getting everything together for this big event. This is the "last hurrah," so to speak....I'm truly hoping that a lot of his old trucking buddies will be there!!!!
About all I have left to do is to get the water beads done (soaked in water for 4 to 7 hours), then put them in the 15 bud vases, get the wood roses out (have to put Saran Wrap around each of the stems) and put them into the vases and in a big box so they can be easily moved to the car for transporting to the Center.
I'm going to get over to a balloon shop to check out their "retirement" balloons....someone told me about this shop not that far from our house......need to do that today or tomorrow. I want to get 2 big bundles of balloons....maybe 4 to 6 balloons in a bundle.
Have one more shopping trip.....that will take place Friday morning.......hope to leave most of the stuff in the car (cans of baked beans), cases of pop, bags of chips, many loaves of bread, etc.......then, I've got to also pack stuff like the tableware, tablecloths, centerpieces, decorations, coffee pot, and whatever else I can think of, to go over to the Senior Center Friday afternoon after 1:00.......the rest of the stuff will go on Sunday (Jell-O salads I'm making, the sherbet cake frosted with Cool Whip, potato/hamburger casserole, etc.)......and stop at KFC to pick up several buckets of chicken. Of course, more lists are being made today....to make sure nothing's left out!!!!
Would you all please keep me/us in your thoughts and/or prayers, as the big day rapidly approaches.........that everything will go very smoothly and perfectly.......and that I will be able to make it through the whole thing.......you cannot believe how nervous I'm getting, as it gets closer and closer to Sunday!
I promise to take lots of pictures! Want to get one of hubby walking through the door at the very beginning, if I possibly can......so will have lots to share after everything's over!
Thanks to all of you for "putting up with me and all the posts" that I've been sharing throughout the long planning process.....I know I probably got carried away and I can almost bet that you got soooo sick of "more party planning" posts that you didn't want to read them anymore.....LOL!!!! It truly has been a long, long journey, but one that I don't regret doing and that this will be something that hubby will love and treasure forever!!!!!
