Do Toddlers & Tiaras moms willingly expose their children to a world of sexual predators? They claim they don't; however, some professionals disagree.
According to a report from FOXNews, Joey Lynn George is just one mother whose child is featured on the popular reality TV show. She claims 7-year-old Hailey George does pageants solely because it's what she enjoys. As far as a sexual predator aspect to pageants and the show, George is adamant that no such thing goes on.
"The biggest misconception ... is when I hear anybody say that these pageant moms are putting their children out there for sexual entertainment for the predators out there. If someone ever said that to my face, oh my gosh, I would put them in their place," the Toddlers & Tiaras mom says.
So let's get this straight. These moms dress their little girls--often as young as just 3 years old--in provocative outfits, skimpy swimsuits and enough makeup for a cheap seductress. Yet they don't believe some perverts are finding sexual gratification in these actions? Here's a sort-of excuse that this particular Toddlers & Tiaras mom used.
"There are kids in swimsuits right here in Florida and you know how many predators are here? It doesn't matter where you are or what you're doing. I'm not going to have her not do what she likes to do because they are everywhere. Then there are people that say we're trying to live through our kids. No, we're just good parents that are going to support our kids no matter what they do."
Okay--note to Joey Lynn George: Yes, everyone knows there are sexual predators in the state of Florida. And yes, children wear bathing suits there. But they are ordinary children swimming in ordinary pools or at the beach with their family. They aren't up on a stage, flaunting a sense of sexual prowess that they shouldn't even realize exists yet.
Experts on sexual predators have weighed in on this issue, too. Here's what they have to say.
"As a treatment professional of sex offenders as well as victims of sexual abuse, I would like the parents of these little girls to assume responsibility for their choices. They are sexualizing their young children. Do not be surprised if your child is preyed upon as a result of this high degree of visibility," says Dr. Nancy Irwin, a psychotherapist from L.A. who specializes in sexual predators.
"Men can pose as agents/managers and track you/your girl down through the show. Further, know that they will be pleasuring themselves while looking at your daughter's YouTube clip," she adds.
This is completely disgusting! If any of these Toddlers & Tiaras moms are in their right minds, they will immediately withdraw their daughters from any and all such related activities.
Do these moms put their daughters into pageants to live vicariously through them? If so it's time they stop before something positively unthinkable happens.
Do you think participation in shows like Toddlers & Tiaras promotes sexual perversion?
