She was a great Lady. She hated being in The White House; didn't like politics. That probably had a lot to do with her alcohol & prescription drug problems. I'm reminded of Ted Kennedy's first wife Joan, who hated politics too, which probable led to her addiction problems. A lot of people can't handle the pressure of being in that fishbowl.
I don't blame her. I'd rather be in Grand Rapids than DC. She was quite the outspoken, and yet depply caring and kind lady. I don't think she interfered with her husband's presidency. Although, she might have asked him where all the pen's went, since Gerald vetoed 240 bills I believe. He was a true Conservative with just the perfect spouse. She showed there is always hope for redemption. She showed daily life should be met with a smile. She was genuine and I feel proud she so beautifully represented Miching and the better points of USA culture. May God bless this soul in heaven.
