On Wednesday (July 13), Paris Hilton used her celebrity to give something back to the community. It's Christmas in July, and Paris visited the Union Rescue Mission homeless shelter today. The hotel heiress, fashionista, and reality television star offered her help as Santa's little helper!
Fans had to dig around a bit to figure out what Paris Hilton's tweet was all about, right after her day at URM ended:
Been at The @URM all day hanging out with all the kids. They are all so sweet! Thanks @urmvolunteers!
What's this all about? It turns out, from visiting URM's website, today is "Christmas in July." Apparently, 20 tons of snow was trucked in for the Subway restaurant-sponsored event in downtown Los Angeles. This was the 8th annual event for nearly 200 homeless children. According to their website, there was everything from snowball fights to gifts from Santa.
As it turns out, Paris Hilton took part in the Christmas celebration as Santa's little helper. URM volunteer manager Alexander Cornejo even tweeted out photos of Paris with the kids and jolly old St. Nick.
This is certainly a change of pace from the typical celebrity news and gossip. There is no "who slept with whom" or "what is so and so wearing." Nope, just Paris Hilton hanging out, handing out some toys to underprivileged kids in her own backyard!
