A very longtime subscriber, I was dismayed by the promotion of the blockhead Niall Ferguson, a totally inferior substitute to the insightful columns of Fareed Zakaria and the transformation of what used to be a news magazine into celebrity trash with minimal text that is, unfortunately, very much in the Rupert Murdoch mould.
I am appalled that Tina Brown has brought the despicable Joan Acocella into the pages of Newsweek. I started searching for an address to cancel when I received the Diane at 50 issue. Promoting the extension of Sarah Palin’s 15 minutes of celebrity with a cover story manages to top that. More relevant would be examination of Marcus Bachman’s phony Ph.D. and his unaccredited clinic taking state and federal money. Michelle Bachman is actually running for president and fanatic though she is has a longer attention span and greater discipline than 2010’s flameout celebrity who could not handle the scrutiny of being governor of a state with less population than many US cities.
It seems that there used to be address information within the magazine, but with the spiraling deterioration of the magazine, I can understand not wanting to include this information.
Upon receipt of this letter, please cancel my subscription, refund the remaining years of subscription (which were to a quite different magazine) and do not ever send me any advertisements for resubscribing.
With sorrow and dismay
