I do think Kristen Wiig can play funny or dramatic (and I can't wait to see her in something else) but I just didn't think Bridesmaids is all that or what people think it is. I did enjoy Melissa McCarthy's character and she could be one of the funniest actresses not many know about. Her character in Bridesmaids was a little over-the-top but at least one character was a treat to watch throughout. Although during the credits there is a bonus scene you might want to divert your eyes -- that attempt at humor was short but very powerful -- whoa!
I am usually not way off from a lot of other reviewers but this time we don't see eye to eye. Perhaps they need to really think about the film in its entirety, and maybe I need to see it again to see if I missed something. It can happen. I remember seeing Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and not liking it the first time and now I find it one of the funniest movies of that decade.
My favorite part: The scene with the bridesmaids trying on dresses was pretty darn hysterical.
My least favorite: The airplane scene -- too long and not humorous.
Did the previews ruin it? No, but they did show a much funnier movie than what I saw.
Random thought: Regarding Melissa McCarthy: Back in 1999, I saw her in Go and had a feeling she would do well -- just from that giggle in a very short scene. I even enjoyed her in Gilmore Girls.

How To Train Your Dragon is a 2010 release by DreamWorks animation based on a 2003 book by the same name. The film has seen great success at the box office which is usually the norm with well produced CGI animation films. The movie has also found credence with critics who write glowing reviews of a tale of acceptance and understanding, and just plain old fun. How To Train Your Dragon takes place in a whimsical Viking Community that has a big problem, with big flying, fire-breathing dragons.
How to Train Your Dragon tells the tale of young Viking named Hiccup who lives in a village that's turmoiled by monstrous dragons who terrify the community. Shortly before enlisting in his villages dragon slayer training, Hiccup shoots down a young dragon with a cannon gun that he built himself, although no one in the village believes him. Hiccup who is supposed to kill the young dragon, eventually befriends the beast which leads to comical effects. The film is beautiful animated and is wonderfully voice acted by some of today's hottest Hollywood actors including Jay Baruchel, America Ferrara, Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Craig Ferguson, Kristen Wiig, and T.J. Her switch between a biting Bible-thumper, and a complete and savage heretic is hilarious, involved, and thorough. It is a brilliant and thoughtful comedic performance. Another strong performance is Jason Bateman's, as the FBI Agent Mulder-type hunting Paul and his drivers. Not only given the opportunity for straight-laced and straight-faced comedic moments, he's given the chance to show a bit of dramatic muscle as well, and he excels.
Most reviews I've read for this film have pinpointed its numerous references as a concern. Watch Bridesmaids online
