Kirstie Alley is playing a dangerous game. The Dancing With The Stars alumna is trying to control her addiction by replacing it with a different, and in this case, even more destructive addiction. It's a strategy that almost never works. On the contrary, it usually spirals out of control with predictable results. Apparently, the Cheers star thinks she'll be different.
Kirstie Alley is reportedly so desperate to maintain her recent weight loss that she's resumed her prior bad habit of smoking. The former Fat Actress quit smoking in 2004 because she was concerned about its deleterious effects on her health. Determined to live a healthier lifestyle, she quit cold turkey. But now that she's regained 12 pounds since her stint on Dancing With The Stars, she's gone back to sucking on coffin nails in hopes that reactivating her addiction to nicotine will keep her food addiction under control. Apparently, Alley was depressed about losing the big prize on DWTS, and the fact that she doesn't have a steady man in her life hasn't helped.
"Since she isn't dancing seven hours a day anymore and isn't being watched like a hawk over her calorie intake," revealed an insider, "she ...went on a junk food bender. Once she started gaining weight, she realized that putting pounds on would only make her feel worse – so she started smoking to help keep the weight off."
Poor Kirstie. She was doing so well. Hopefully, she'll be able to get a handle on this situation because smoking --or abusing other appetite suppressing drugs--should never be used as a form of weight management. If Kirstie Alley is unable to control her self-destructive behavior, she should seek help immediately. She's playing with fire.
