Even though the Rogue was killed off on Nine Lives of Chloe King, that doesn't mean Chloe (Skyler Samuels) is any safer. There's forces conspiring against her, namely the Order, and she needs to be prepared.
In the opening minutes of episode four, "All Apologies," Chloe receives some more training from Alek (Benjamin Stone) and Jasmine (Alyssa Diaz). But she's not trusting herself, or using her instincts. So if her Mai peers can't get through to her, what can?
Trouble for her boss Lana (Aeriel Miranda) at the vintage shop. While at work, Chloe feels Lana's feelings, and she's terrified. And when Chloe learns that Lana's ex Jesse it out to get Lana, she realizes what her new super-power is all about. Not only does Chloe have claws and super-hearing, she's also an empath. She can directly experience the emotions of others.
Even though Valentina (Alicia Coppola) urges Chloe to limit her contact with humans, Chloe isn't one to listen on Nine Lives of Chloe King "All Apologies." Plus, she has to deal with Amy (Grace Phipps), who has been jealous of the time that Chloe has spent with Jasmine and Alek training. And Chloe's still spending time with Brian (Grey Damon), even though he's been acting weird.
While Chloe breaks Valentina's rules about human contact, Chloe also doesn't listen to Valentina and Alek's warning to not get involved in Lana's fight. She goes to check in on Lana, only to find that Jesse has attacked her, and now he's going after Chloe. But even with her superpowers -- and because of her lack of training -- Chloe ends up in a corner with Jesse waving a knife at her. Surprisingly, it's Lana who saves the day, and Chloe doesn't lose another one of her nine lives.
Lana was an "unnecessary risk," as Valentina says, but this is who Chloe is. She cares for the people around her, and that's unlikely to change.
But Chloe does need to watch her back. Because while one evil dude is dead on Nine Lives of Chloe King, he wasn't the only the assassin after the Uniter. The Order is back in San Francisco, and they're hunting down Chloe King. As seen on previous episodes, Brian's dad is involved in the Order, and in "All Apologies," we learn it's because of a personal vendetta. Does this vendetta have to do with Brian's mom's death?
While Valentina warns Brian's dad away from Chloe, he's not the only one out to get Chloe. As the Mai leader tells Chloe, "Like it or not, the whole world is coming for you."
The Nine Lives of Chloe King airs on ABC Tuesdays at 9PM Eastern.
