Cleaning the Football Stadium for God
The story itself is not unusual, but most people really don't know that Jehovah's Witnesses will clean their stadium for free in exchange for a deal on the rent when we use it for our annual conventions. In Jamaica, we used to do that for our National Stadium, but the rent (even discounted) eventually became too high.
Nowadays we clean Sabina Park, the main cricket stadium located in down town Kingston. We don't get it for free, but the discount makes the rental so affordable that we have agreed to clean it whenever they ask.
The other stadium that gets this benefit is the multi-purpose stadium that was a gift from the people of China on the opposite side of the island in Falmouth on our North Coast.
In addition to a thorough cleaning at no cost to the government, we will also repair or install gates, furniture, plumbing (including toilets and urinals), additional steps and if necessary, fix cracks in the wall.
When my congregation was in its infancy, we had rented a schoolroom. While we were there, it was the cleanest room in the entire compound. The building containing the room we rented was repainted, the toilets were fixed and disinfected twice per week. All the damaged furniture in the entire school was repaired; even those in rooms we did not use.
Stadium operators and headmasters love it when we ask to use their buildings
