HIMYM Jason Segel is a funny guy but in a recent interview about his film, "The Muppets," Segel was all business. The actor talked candidly about the muppets, making a family friendly film and Amy Adams. There's little doubt, Segel is bursting with talent.
Sure, "The Muppets" will be a kid friendly film but don't think Jason Segel will leave the parents out. He told PopSugar:
"We're trying to harken back to the original three Muppet movies, The Muppet Movie, Muppets Take Manhattan, and The Great Muppet Caper. I think one of the things the original Muppet movies did amazingly well is that they don't condescend to children by feeling like they have to dumb things down to the lowest common denominator...that was our goal."
Here's a guy who truly knows how to make a kid's film, or at least it definitely sounds that way! There is nothing worse than having to sit through a horrific children's movie with your kid at the theatre! So, it's good news that Segel is making a film that can entertain adults as well.
When it came to Amy Adams, apparently, Jason Segel had eyed her for the part ever since he saw Adams in "Enchanted." Adams is a versatile actress and she's good. There's little doubt it will be a challenge for her to take on a role in "The Muppets." Segel feels the same way. He stated:
"I wrote it for her. She was in my mind from the beginning, ever since I saw Enchanted. The role is very different, but first of all, she's like the best actress alive. To go from Enchanted to Doubt, and The Fighter, this woman can do anything. She's able to do this wide-eyed naiveté that is not part of her personality in real life — she's one of the most smart, on-top-of-it women I've ever met."
If everything works out the way Jason Segel envisions "The Muppets" to be, it's a safe bet that the film will be a very entertaining film to watch!
