Doug Hutchison, of The Green Mile, married a 16-year-old country singer in Las Vegas over the weekend. Hutchison is 51. Ummm, okay--so what is wrong with this story?
According to Popeater, it's true. The actor who played corrections officer Percy Wetmore, and who also played roles in Lost and 24, has in fact married a girl (a child, really) who is 35 years his junior.
Doug Hutchison and his child bride released the following statement to the media regarding their May-December marriage.
"We're aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial," the couple said via a spokesperson. "But we're very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless."
Hmmmm. If love is that ageless, couldn't Doug Hutchison perhaps have waited until this little girl had perhaps turned at least 18? If love is destined to last, it would certainly last until she finished high school. This sounds bizarre, and maybe even just a bit on the perverted side.
This marriage, of course, raises the question of what on earth is with Courtney Alexis Stodden's parents? Since the legal age of consent in the state of Nevada happens to be 18, then one of her parents would have had to sign the form to allow their daughter to marry this 51-year-old man.
It seems that Doug Hutchison's new child bride is a former beauty pageant queen (what was she, a star on Toddlers and Tiaras?) and that she hopes to become the next top country singer on one of many Vegas stages. Note to Courtney Stodden: One doesn't tend to rise to stardom by marrying a D-list actor who is 35 years older than you are.
What do you think of this scenario of Doug Hutchison marrying a girl who is just 16? Not a big deal or just plain disgusting?
