It didn't take long for Hugh Hefner to replace Crystal Harris -- twins Karissa and Kristina Shannon have reportedly moved back into the Playboy mansion.
So is Hef trying to prove that his runaway bride is easily replaced on what would have been her wedding day? Well, since it has taken two to fill the void she left behind, Crystal still gets to feel a little special.
It is pretty odd that the Shannon twins would agree to move back in after Crystal Harris was placed above them as Hefner's number one girlfriend, and it's even stranger that Karissa Shannon left her boyfriend, Smallville actor Sam Jones, in order to comfort the girl-crazy octogenarian.
So why would the Shannon twins want to move back in? Perhaps they believe that Hugh Hefner will be looking for a replacement bride, and if he chooses one of them to walk down the aisle with him, they could split the spoils fifty-fifty (at least they've got twice the chances at landing in the money). The two competing to be Hugh Hefner's new bride-to-be would certainly make for an interesting new season of The Girl's Next Door.
Or perhaps the girls don't want to marry Hef -- maybe they just want a second shot at fame. After the Playboy founder decided to become monogamous, the girls didn't really seem to have careers to fall back on (although Karissa Shannon did create a sex tape with her ex-boyfriend). They didn't get opportunities to star on popular E! reality shows like Hef's former flames Kendra Wilkinson and Holly Madison (even Bridget Marquardt landed a role on a Travel Channel show), so perhaps the Shannon twins are just looking for a second chance at post-breakup fame.
Of course it's also possible that Crystal Harris was trying to get a career started post-breakup -- she got her Playboy cover and then split in order to pursue her dream of becoming a singer. And if things turn out for her like they did for the Shannon twins, she also might find herself crawling right back to the mansion.
