Stanley Cup Championship~Boston Celebrates,...

Well, one team had reason to celebrate, the other didn't, and their fans were out to prove that. In the 7th game of the Stanley Cup Championship, the Boston Bruins defeated the Vancouver Canucks 4-ZIP. And, apparently that didn't sit well with the Canadians, who shortly after the game ended, took to the streets smashing windows, setting cars and garbage cans on fire, and throwing beer bottles everywhere. Looting was also reported.

So far, the celebrations in Boston have been peaceful, amidst a heavy police presence. But with the Bruins due back in Boston early this morning, even celebrations can get out of control. Let's hope these images won't be repeated, but I'm sure of one thing, after 39 years without a Cup Championship, Bostonians are ready to P-A-R-T-Y!!!

why do things like this happen over a game just because they lost.

Vancouver could literally taste the Stanley Cup and had a 3-2 edge going into Boston, where they never played well in the series. They lose in Beantown, come back to Vancouver and play as flat a hockey game as they could. I heard that they shut down liquor stores in Vancouver early in the event they lost.

Still didn't stop them from looting and the what not. It was a great hard fight and I don't think they sound beat them self up about loosing.

Sad that things get so out of hand like this and others who have nothing to do with the competition have to suffer

I'm one of those who has favorite teams in various sports (I don't follow hockey) and, every year, most of them lose. When it happens, I have another drink, toast the winner, complain that it was probably because of the officiating, and have another drink. I have never thought, "My team lost, I'm going downtown, burn a car, loot a building, and throw something at cops."
