Stormy Cat Update

Stormy cat is in my upstairs bathroom, litter box training almost complete.  Do I feel ready to let him out?  Yes and no.  He's so timid and fearful.  I'm afraid he'll get himself under something again and not come out to use the box.  I'm afraid he and Rook won't get along.  Then what?  At the same time I think that just maybe they'll learn to tolerate each other.  I'm also leery because he won't be neutered by the SPCA until friday 6:00 a.m.  So my neutered cat is aware there is an unfixed cat in this apartment.

Stormy can't go back out on the street.  He was never meant to be a street cat.  Also, the one feral, Got2, is back, from where ever he was.  Got2 was the dominant one.  Stormy was a little kitten the last time he saw him.  He is a bigger teen now.  And it won't work with those three - Got2, Stormy and Muddy.  Even Muddy is back to deferring to Got2.  I give Muddy extra attention and food when Got2 is involved in eating his.

So, we'll see.

thanks, Debby and Renee! He's doing well with the litter box in there...tomorrow I'm going to shut all the bedroom doors and open the door to the bathroom and let him wander out a bit.....he was gawking at the birds out the window today......

Maybe if you bring him down for a few times and slowly introduce them they will adjust. Otherwise I think I would just let him stay in his room until after his surgery.Then he will need time to heal.. Good luck with your fur babies.

That's what we did, Betty. Then, soon after, we had to get ready to move! of all things...but by then, he and Rook were starting to get past the growling and hissing at each other stage to slowly romping together. In our new house, Stormy was the one who comforted Rook after the move. Now they play and fight and eat together. Like they've always been together! I love it.

yes it is - hard on the newbie and the older one! I'll be posting updates, esp. after friday when Stormy cat gets his dignity removed - not to mention all the shots! And worst of all - they'll clip his claws!

but he can still hisssssss....which scares my Rook cat! And it's just a clip...for the claws, that is! the rest is a total snip off!

Oh my Pamela, I used to have a Saint Bernard that was just a wonderful pet but I also had a home daycare and the kids played with him and one day a little boy was swing and the dog playfully grabbed his shirt and went a bit deep. Just bit through the skin but I still gave him away.I've raised Siamese cats and have wished for a ferret. I love animals.Right now I only have my mini pom,Lacy..one spoiled baby..

Pets become our children! That must have been a difficult time for you, having to decide between your dog and the home daycare. My cats are my life. They are my babies. I help care for the neighborhood strays and ferals and strongly promote trap, spay/neuter programs. These neighborhood cats love me and I them. I wish I could find homes for them all. Stormy cat was a kitten when he came around, but so scared - no one could get near him! I had to stand about ten feet away before he'd come out to eat...then, several weeks later, he put his little paws on my knees, and stared into my eyes - we bonded then, and he became extremely affectionate. There was no way I could leave him on the Street. He's a teen now, and I am so glad he's in my upstairs bathroom, uncomfortable now, but he'll be let out once he's fixed and shots on friday - and I make sure he's totally litter box trained! so far so good!

Thanks, Betty - and that's okay re: name. It's pronounced "Jean" - just spelled the french way! I never went by Jeannie or Jeanie - just Jeanne. If I lived in France I'd be called "Jhen" hehehe...unlike a genie in a bottle!

Thank You Jeanne.I had a friend who was a twin and their names were Jeanie and Janie. I guess that's why I spelled yours that way.I heard a cute genie joke. This biker found a bottle with a genie in it. The genie told him she would grant him anything he ask for but for him to think it over and tell her later. That's what he did and he decided he wanted to know every thing that was to know about women.But his first wish had been a really good road all the way across the world where he could ride his bike. The genie pondered a moment and replied, "do you want that road to be one lane or two.

Thank you, Sheila. Ah, he'll be okay! Just a blow to his dignity! Those family jewels are worthless....but I won't tell him that! tomorrow morning is the big day! Six a.m. he'll be at the SPCA and under sedation - he won't even know what's hit him!
