Hawaii Five-0 became one of the big new shows of last fall season, and it will be back in September for its second season. When the show resumes, there will be one more series regular in the cast: Masi Oka, who plays coroner Dr. Max Bergman.
Masi Oka becomes H50 series regular
It had already been announced that Masi Oka would be a season 2 regular, but now Entertainment Weekly has talked to the actor about this promotion: "They were kind enough to offer me more regular work. I don't know yet if I will be needed for every episode because they are writing the next season now but Dr. Max Bergman will be more involved. I guess they will need more help from the coroner. I think he got a good response from viewers so they are looking to featuring him more." He was an entertaining recurring star in Hawaii Five-0's first season, so it's good news for fans to hear that he'll be back more often next year.
Oka even has an idea on what he wanted to see from his character: "I hope they delve into his personal life more. Max Bergman is a nut and I'd like to know more about who he is and what he does with his time but that is not up to me." His ideas sound like good ones--it's always a treat to learn more about the personal lives of characters on series, especially ones like Hawaii Five-0 that focus more on cases each episode and occasionally offer tidbits about the characters. Perhaps now that he'll be around as a series regular, Max Bergman's character will be fleshed out more and they'll reveal more about who he is outside of being a coroner.
Did you like seeing Masi Oka on Hawaii Five-0 last season? Are you glad he's going to be back next year?
