The Monta Ellis trade rumors are heating up. It appears that the Golden State Warriors are talking about a trade that could send Monta Ellis to a host of other teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers.
CBS Sports is reporting that the Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, Atlanta Hawks, and Philadelphia 76ers are all expressing interest in acquiring the shooting guard. It seems very likely that the Warriors would be willing to part with Ellis at this point, and that they could then simply look for a new shooting guard in the 2011 NBA Draft.
There had been rumors that the 76ers are offering up André Iguodala in a deal to get Ellis, but nothing has come from those discussions yet. It seems that it is the most likely of scenarios of the Warriors finally do decide to pull the trigger, but it leaves questions about where Evan Turner would stand with Philadelphia if Ellis joined the roster.
With so little going on in the NBA outside of the NBA Finals right now, it is good to hear that discussions like this one are taking place. If the Warriors back out of this deal, would it also be possible that the 76ers off up Iguodala as a simple salary dump? This is a situation that needs to be paid attention to.
