This past season on Bones, the characters for a new spinoff/hybrid series, The Finder, were introduced, but one of them will not be joining the others when the show premieres as part of Fox's midseason next year while Bones goes on hiatus for Emily Deschanel's maternity leave.
Needed: A young female actress
According to TVLine, "the new [female] character [replacing Saffron Burrows' Ike] - Willa - will be around 17." She "has a criminal background and some hidden skills that Walter and Leo will put to good use." While it was certainly good news to hear that next midseason would feature The Finder (taking over the Thursday 9PM time slot while Bones is on hiatus), it wasn't too much of a surprise to hear that they would be down one of the cast members from the Bones episode, "Finder." Geoff Stults was very good as the quirky, paranoid Walter Sherman, and you had to love Michael Clarke Duncan as his poetry-reciting bodyguard/legal advisor, Leo. If one of them had to go, it seemed like it would always be Saffron Burrows.
So who should they get to replace her? How will they explain her in the story? This won't be the first time someone is replaced between the pilot or test episode and first season (recently, the same thing happened with the Operations Manager of the NCIS: Los Angeles team; NCIS introduced the show in two episodes and featured Louise Lombard as Lara Macy, but when the series premiered, Linda Hunt was in that position as Hetty). Hopefully whomever they get for Willa does well with the role and gets the support of the viewers.
Will you be tuning in to The Finder in the midseason? What did you think of Saffron Burrows as Ike?
