Criminal Minds is set to begin production on its seventh season soon, but there's still one vital member of the cast who hasn't signed a contract yet: Thomas Gibson. Earlier this week, it was reported that talks had "stalled," and fans became worried.
Ongoing negotiations
Thomas Gibson talked to E! Online at the Monte-Carlo TV Festival about the fact that he still isn't signed on for season 7. When asked if he would be returning, he said, "I hope so, that's all I really can tell you. I am just hopeful we can work something out." He even joked about Charlie Sheen replacing him because, "He's free, you know."
He's irreplaceable on the show, as Hotch isn't just their leader, he's also a very good profiler and key to solving many of their cases. Criminal Minds fans are just holding out hope that soon - and before production begins next month - there is an announcement that he is signed on for season 7. It's nearly impossible to picture the show without Hotch leading the team, and hopefully when the new season begins, it's with Hotch as the Unit Chief where he belongs.
