Ok, normally I am totally one of those people who tell you to do a Google search when looking for information, but the following discussion on Mylot just made me laugh ^^

The question was "Would you choose your country or your religion?". Simple as that...

By the way, the answer was not a topic that is a hot topic at the moment. So I would have probably guessed until eternity ended!

LOL a crazy question. The only country I can think of that you are all one religion would be Israel. I am not sure of that answer, could be people of other religions are there also.

There are other religions living in Israel though there the majority is Jewish. I think Iran is the only totally religious state in the world, Muslim, there may be other religions there as well, though I doubt it seriously as they are not a tolerant bunch in that government.

The silliness of the discussion is that the other person refused to answer where they lived. Why? was it such a big deal to answer where one lives? I would think not.

As to chosing religion over country. I don't see that it is an issue in the United States as that is the beauty of having the freedom to beleive how one wishes to beleive.

However, if this country (and I really don't think it would ever come to that) said to me... "You can no longer be this... or believe in that" I could no longer defend it.

For those that have no faith, how would you feel if you were told that you had to believe in God to continue living in your country?

I love my country, don't get me wrong, I will defend living here as much as I can, but I would leave this country in a heart beat if it told me I could no longer have the freedom that I have grown up having. A freedom to believe the way I want to.

Well, I kept asking and asking and finally he gave in *lol* He is from India and was talking about corruption.
Well, corruption still does not really make ask such a question, but it seems to be a huge problem in India and does involve their religion(s).

For those who would actually be interested in an answer, I'd choose my religion over my country. The answer as to why does not belong here, but a hint is in Nancy's comment.

I would have answered, I would not choose. I do not believe in religion and the country? Well, it's falling apart. I will choose me. First off here in the U.S. they will never have you choose anything like that. And we have the right to fight back here, so like you said, it makes not sense.
