The Denny's Restaurant was abuzz now...
Caroline had fallen over in the last booth of the Denny's Restaurant, and her good friend GG was over her trying to see if she was breathing or not...
The death of Harold, Caroline's husband, had been such a shock to everyone who knew them both. They were the loving couple that everyone admired.
GG looked at Caroline long and hard -- she was still trying to figure out why on earth had Caroline dyed her hair purple! And when, exactly had she done that?!
Caroline had been a wreck since Harold had been found dead in the swimming pool at their home. So GG knew that Caroline had been doing strange things. In fact, GG had been so concerned about Caroline's strangeness that she had told her good friend Calvin, who was a Psychiatrist that her friend Caroline was talking to invisible people constantly.
Harold had been found dead only two days ago floating face down in the couple's swimming pool. Caroline was the one who found him after coming home from the spa. She was so discombobulated at the sight of Harold floating face down as if he were dead that at first she just told him to stop the madness!
You see Harold was a real jokester. He was always playing practical jokes on Caroline, and she was sick of it. In fact, she had been so sick of his joking around that she told him she was going to find another man who had some sense.
Well, needless to say, when Harold didn't respond to Caroline's screaming at him to stop the madness, she got in the pool to go and shake him, only to discover that he was really dead!
Oh my lord ~ she really lost it then! She started gasping for breath and began frilling around the sides of the pool looking crazy. There was no one around to call out to, because Harold and Caroline lived alone. They didn't have any kids, and the neighbors weren't around.
Finally, Caroline had pulled herself together enough to grab her cell phone and dial 911.
When the police and ambulance arrived she was totally out of it. She could barely answer any questions. The police officer who was questioning her asked her to give him the telephone number to the closest relative. Caroline gave the Officer her mother's telephone number.
When Caroline's mother arrived, she was drunk as a skunk. And since Caroline was totally out of it by the time her mother arrived, she didn't even have the wherewithal to tell her to straighten up.
Bernice, Caroline's mother was really loud when she arrived on the scene. She had came into the back where the pool was located staggering all the way. With slurred speech and a booming voice, she turned to Caroline and said, "What's the dealio Caroline!?"
The Police Officer who had been questioning Caroline took one look at Bernice, and then turned to his partner and said, "Oh goodness, this is going to be a real long night."
