Jeff Conaway, the actor who starred in both Grease and Taxi, died on Friday at the age of 60. An autopsy was performed on his body on Saturday. No official result has been listed yet as the cause of his death. It will be weeks before that is determined.
According to a report from TMZ, the cause of death for Conaway has "been deferred," and is "awaiting toxicology results."
Jeff Conaway had a history of drug abuse. It sounds like an autopsy may have been conducted to see if his drug addiction played a role in his death. When he was brought to the hospital back on May 11, it was believed he had pneumonia and sepsis. Sepsis occurs when the bloodstream is overrun with bacteria. It often presents itself first as pneumonia.
It is likely that, because of Jeff Conaway's drug abuse that his body wasn't in particularly great shape to begin with. How sad that his attempts to fight his demons earlier on hadn't been met with success.
Now family members, friends, and fans will have to wait a few weeks for the results of Jeff Conaway's toxicology report. This will determine the cause of the actor's death and will hopefully provide a sense of closure for all.
