I love the stuff my family comes up with, seriously, sometimes it boggles my mind when stuff comes out of their mouths. And its a thing all of us do, the trivial things we store in our heads is really funny, and even though I know we all get it from somewhere, I always wonder just how much of it is really true.
So tonight we were all sitting around the dinner table and the discussion turned to the coyotes that we have been seeing in the neighborhood. My dad started talking about all the coyotes he has seen in his life, including those when he was growing up on a ranch. Then my dad blurted out a really weird bit of trivia, and I am wondering how much truth there is behind it.
My dad said that when a coyote is being chased, the prey not the predator, it will pee as much as it can while running in order to trip up its predator. Now, I know that coyote urine is a very powerful and effective scent when you want to keep away certain animals, and of course coyotes use their urine to mark out their own territories themselves-- keeping away many animals.
But I have never heard of coyotes using piss to try and evade their predators. My dad says that the ranchers he worked with talked about it more than once, especially when they were on their horses trying to run the coyote off their land, because then they had to be especially careful riding.
So what do you all think? True? Or not true?

The Russian word for coyote is "Amerikanskiy Volk" (American wolf).
I'm pretty sure I don't ; )
